ARLINGTON, Va. – The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) today announced that Prysmian | Encore Wire has earned Make It AmericanTM certification for its McKinney, Texas facility, validating its supply chain management systems and operational practices. The copper and aluminum wire manufacturer also earned NEMA’s product-level certification for its wire and cable (WC) product lines that meet Build America, Buy America Act (BABA) domestic content requirements.
Introduced in April 2025, the Make It American certification program brings transparency and reliability to the federal marketplace by enabling companies to validate their supply chain management systems and operational practices through rigorous, third-party expert audits – ensuring alignment with the domestic content requirements of the BABA that apply to projects receiving federal funds.
The Make It American program provides manufacturers, government agencies, and procurement officials with greater certainty, reducing transaction friction for federally funded infrastructure projects.
“NEMA’s wire and cable manufacturers are essential to the efforts to accelerate the expansion and modernization of our electrical grid and improve ‘speed to power’ for innovation-driving, job-supporting infrastructure projects,” said NEMA President and CEO Debra Phillips. “By bringing BABA-aligned wire and cable products to market, Prysmian | Encore Wire is helping to ensure that our electrical future is fueled by U.S.-manufacturing.”
“At Prysmian | Encore Wire, we recognize the importance of supporting U.S. manufacturing and are proud to have earned this Make it American certification for our McKinney campus and the wire and cable products that we produce there,” said Brian Moriarty, Industrial & Construction Senior Vice President for Prysmian North America. “We are dedicated to delivering the highest quality products to our customers while providing unmatched service. This certification is another way we demonstrate our commitment to leading in our industry.”
Today, companies can certify their facilities to NEMA’s Make It American Process Standard and their products across six categories using NEMA’s BABA Product Specifications through this federally recognized program.
