October 8, 2025

Electrical technologies supporting energy reliability

NEMA Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Spencer Pederson today issued the following statement regarding the Senate’s confirmation of Laura Swett and David LaCerte as Commissioners of the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission:

“NEMA congratulates Laura Swett and David LaCerte on their confirmations as Commissioners of the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Together, Commissioners Swett and LaCerte bring this important regulator of the nation’s regional energy infrastructure and markets to a full complement.

“NEMA has consistently advocated for streamlined and expedited federal permitting processes to unlock our domestic resources, deliver reliable power, and meet our nation’s rising electricity demand while keeping energy affordable for consumers.

“We look forward to working with Commissioner Swett, Commissioner LaCerte, their fellow FERC Commissioners, and FERC staff to address the longstanding need for transmission permitting reform and other issues affecting grid security, reliability, and affordability for households and businesses.”
